WHAT WE DO

The Narrative is a digital production company and entertainment studio. We’re the pioneering company behind BBC Worldwide’s first-ever digital series. We create premium digital content, integrating it into our own and existing 3rd Party IP. Every project we create is built on the foundation of our data driven processes, unrivalled understanding of online audiences and the platforms where they spend time. We build loyal communities around our IP and turn to these communities to test and iterate new ideas. Currently, we have exciting projects with MGM, Warner Bros, and the BBC.

We are also creators of TTP, the Trust to Transaction Playbook, a digital strategy process developed over the last 7 years with our experience in: 1) Facebook Games & in-game transactions; 2) YouTube channels extending to merchandise; 3) Our adventure travel series with BBC Worldwide, which included merchandise and events. The TTP is the foundation of our projects.

  • Passionate about our work - We believe we are some of the luckiest people in the world, working on franchises we only dreamed about as a kid. Everyone has a healthy obsession about the work, process and most importantly - the fans.

  • Passionate about The Narrative - What we’re setting out to do is ambitious , but we have the chance to change the industry forever. How cool is that?

  • Day 91 - It’s easy to get excited during the first three months of a project when everything is fresh, but the real challenge is keeping the energy on Day 91. We support, push and inspire each other to re-energize our passion long-term…no really, it’s what we call our Energizer sessions!

GROWTH MINDSET

  • Startup Tested - Our team has experience working for huge companies, but our skills come from years of multiple VC-backed startups. We have to do things differently. We will only succeed if we’re more nimble like David against the Goliath studios.

  • Thirst for Knowledge - We’re obsessed with film, television, communities and digital media. Co-founder Nick Hayward was even one of the authors of the YouTube Playbook when he worked for Google.

  • Lateral Thinking - We encourage everyone to explore their passions deeply. The answer for digital content might sit within travel, fashion or video games. Go ahead, climb that mountain or compete in that tournament!

  • Goal obsessed - We love the buzz we get when we’re crossing things off our lists. In fact, we even sync our journals (physical and digital, oh yes) to help each hit their goals.

CREATORS OF AGILE PRODUCTION

With a background mix of premium content and digital experience, we have created a new development process called 'Agile Production'. We refine the development and production process through an iterative approach based on data and feedback loops, which means we can create content faster, better and cheaper.

Yeah we do! Not only is Lawrence from Southern California, the nature of our work brings us out to Hollywood and New York. Lucky Charms, Chex Mix and Cheez-Its make their way into the office. With that said, we prefer healthy snacks to give us good energy to smash our work so you’ll also see a nice mix of fruit, muesli and trail mix too.

Unfortunately, we do not accept unsolicited scripts at this time.

CAN I SHOW YOU MY REEL OR PORTFOLIO?

Definitely. The worst thing is to create something and nobody sees it. Feel free to send your portfolio to lawrence [at] thenarrative.io. Somebody at The Narrative will watch it, just give us some time to feedback.

DO YOU OFFER AN INTERNSHIP?

We do! Every year, we work with universities and courses including Oxford University, University of Brighton, University of Westminster, Central Saint Martins and others. Email us your CV/Portfolio, and a passionate email doesn’t hurt. Within two weeks, you’ll receive an email with a short application. Unfortunately, due to a high volume of requests, we won’t be able to reply to everyone.
